Avon
Since joining Avon over 20 year ago, Angela has lived Avon's belief that a better world for women is a better world for all. Now, as CEO, she builds on her experience to ensure Avon is 'not just another big company, rather a force for good.'
Angela has taken this commitment to new levels, including instigating a brand activism strategy embedding purpose in every part of the organisation.
In response to the global spike in cases of domestic violence since the pandemic began, Angela led Avon's #IsolatedNotAlone campaign, ensuring those experiencing domestic abuse during lockdown were not forgotten. Activated across 30 countries, Avon's campaign married social and traditional media outreach, an open letter to governments and $1m in grants from the Avon Foundation to NGOs, to drive awareness of the issue for at-risk women, and allay the issues facing frontline support services. This had direct impact with a 120% increase in calls to Refuge. The campaign also gave financial support to 50 NGOs in 37 markets and saw genuine changes to government behaviours benefiting frontline services and the women they support.
Last year, Angela lent her voice of support to the United Nations 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. As part of Avon's wider #SpeakOut movement, Angela led the implementation of a Gender-Based Violence protocol at Avon, to give employees paid leave in cases of domestic abuse situations. Angela was also at the forefront of making the protocol readily available to other businesses and organisations to implement.
